The normal office working week is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours, with a one hour unpaid meal break. Employees are expected to attend work punctually, record working time where required, and take their rest breaks. Under the Working Time Regulations 1998 employees are entitled to a rest break of at least 20 minutes where the working day exceeds six hours, 11 consecutive hours daily rest and one uninterrupted rest day per week. Employees who do not wish to work more than an average 48 hour week may decline the opt-out agreement at any time.
Flexible and hybrid working is available for roles where it is operationally appropriate. From day one of employment, employees can make a statutory flexible working request for a change to hours, times or place of work. The Company considers each request reasonably, discusses it with the employee and responds within two months.
Overtime is discouraged and must be authorised in advance where it applies. Time off in lieu may be agreed for approved additional hours where this is appropriate for the role.
